HC sees red over 1-day I-T notice

A division bench of the Bombay high court on Monday lashed out at the income tax department for having allegedly recovered TDS dues from an assessee within a day of serving a demand notice.The assessee's plea for two days to reply on the recovery process was not granted, the assessee told the high court in a writ petition heard on Monday.The assessee, Mahindra Mahindra, the auto major, was served a notice on March 27 by the income tax officer, TDS, Nashik, asking them to pay up Rs
