Why do most of the cas have pathetic communication skills

Why don't CAs improve their communication skills while doing their internship?

The reasons which my classmates gave me.

-Syllabus bohot hai yaar. Ab kaun padhega wo english. Waise bhi attempts ke upar nirbhar hota hai sab. Wo apna faculty ko dekh, 15 lakh kamata hai, school ke bachche usse acche english bol lete hain.(There is a hell lot of syllabus and everything is solely dependent on the number of attempts you take. Our Faculty makes an earning of Rs.15/Ann whose english is worse than that of a school student)

-Chalna yaar, ek mahina spoken english classes chale jayenge, wo log hi sab kuch sikha denge. Unko pata hai kaunse kaunse question puchenge interviews mein.(Common dude, we'll attend spoken english sessions and they'll guide us the right way. Also, they'll be knowing the questions which most of the panelists ask)

-GMCS mein sikha diya sab kuch.(We've learnt everything in GMCS)

These are the replies which my seniors gave me who are taking their CA Final exam in May 2015.

My question is

-Why do students have this attitude?(A lot of them. We'll I'm not saying it is the same with everyone as I've recently met a CA whose English was impeccable and comparable to the ones who hold an MA in Literature. But in my opinion, this may become a hurdle in future)

-Did anyone of your friends have this attitude?

I want CAClub members to share their opinions on this.

There you have it.Your article is not even being considered worthy to discuss about.CA students are so much engrossed in classes, training that they don't spare a thought about English.Sooner or later, they'll realise that being a book worm is not all-important in securing a contented life.

I am agree with your views . You are right . Communication skill and soft skills theses are the only reason why CA's are considered less skilled then MBA's.

It's completely rubbish. It depends on an individual's background and his willingness to learn. Also, CA is a much more accessible course then MBA, which is why lot of people who do not have the 20 lacs to pursue MBA or good english, are able to enroll into CA.

If people think that speaking in "farratedaar" english is a prequisite and a symbol of education and talent  then the people having this attitude need to change and so should these companies.

Communication is all about putting one's message across constructively and objectively.

We are the only country which doesn't look upon its mother-tongue with pride. As you have already shown here, that you equated good spoken english to communication skills and soft-skills.

CA is a bloddy tough course and MBAs do not have to work even 10% as hard as we CA students do.

During last 10 years, I have come across lot of MBA grads with fancy english and sometimes accents and they are very properly put-out with their laptops..............but very seldom that fancyness results in professional and ethical behaviour.

I'll be the happiest person if they do that. My post is not to belittle CA students. I just want to know the reason for having such attitude. There is a misconception here. My above "post" is not an article. It is just another random thread opened in CAClub India forum which is open for discussion. I'm happy that you've shared your views Mr.Prashant.

I said nothing about MBA. This is not a CA versus MBA debate Goyal ji.

It has less to do with CA or MBA or any Profession for that matter. It is more to do with background of the person & his family/ecosystem upbringing. There are top quality CAs whose value system, ethics & personal integrity will be impeccable. At same time you will have those who will take the short cut & can be brash, rude, ugly. However i would say CA gives you great technical and analytical skills.....it develops that self confidence in you.Offcourse if you invest a little bit in Yoga & a few other exercises you will develop a good personality rather than having a pounch.A man who is hardworking, secured, positive will usually have good communication skills.......people who are lazy, lack passion/self motivation & the bickering type will be poor communicators.
