I have a small confusion. Whether special business at general meeting requires special resolutions or special resolution requires only in cases specifically mentioned under various provisions of Companies Act, 1956?

No,
Its not necessary that in GM for special business u need to pass a SR. As u correctly mentioned SR is required where it specifically mentioned.

There are only 4 General Business, except all the business in the General Meeting are called Special Business. And for Special Businiesses it is not necessary to pass Special Resolution.
