Where to show food coupons and medical reimbursement in itr 1

ITR 16474 views 6 replies

Dear Members,

My husband's Form 16 includes the following amounts under Section 10 exempt income

Rs.27,000 towards Food copouns

Rs.42000 towards Fuel reimbursement

We understand these are perquisites that are not taxable because they are within the permissible limits.

But we are confused where to show them in ITR1 for the AY 2018-19?

Also, Medical Reimbursement of Rs.15,000 is mentioned and he has also paid Medical Insurance of Rs.20,000. Can both be claimed under Section 80D?

Please help.

Hi,
in ITR 1, there is an column exempt income where you can show this exempted income

Thank you, Sir. But under which Section? The list of Exempted Income has several sub-sections under Section 10.

When a particular section is not mentioned in dropdown, please choose 'Any Other' from the dropdown and mention the descripttion properly.

In exempt income column in ITR, you can show the exempted income and simply mention' any other' from dropdown

I have a similar question, so replying on the same discussion

The food coupons and internet expenses reimbursement are included in my salary in Form 16 under section 17(1). While filling in the ITR form, should we deduct the amount for the food coupons and internet expenses from the salary when filling in the salary section and add them to the Exempted Income schedule ?

Food coupons are generally considered taxable perquisites and should not be added to the Exempted Income.
