Quick Summary
If you're encountering problems submitting your ITR 6 because the signatory details are incorrect, you likely need to update your company's profile on the Income Tax e-Filing portal. Ensure you first update the authorised signatory information with the relevant authorities, such as the MCA, before proceeding to the e-Filing portal. You can then log in, navigate to your profile settings, remove the resigned director, and add the current authorised signatory with their correct details and necessary documentation.

You need to update the Authorised Signatory details on the Income Tax e‑Filing portal before filing the ITR. The return will continue to show the resigned director until the company’s profile is updated with the new authorised signatory.

Log in to the e‑Filing Portal
•     Go to Income Tax e‑Filing portal.
•     Use the company’s PAN credentials to log in.

2.     Navigate to Profile Settings
•     Under My Profile, select Key Person/Authorised Signatory.
•     This section contains details of directors, partners, or authorised signatories linked to the company.

3.     Remove the Resigned Director
•     If the previous director has resigned, update the company’s MCA records first (Form DIR‑12 filed with MCA).
•     Once MCA records are updated, the Income Tax portal usually syncs the change.
•     If not, manually delete the old signatory from the portal.

4.     Add Current Authorised Signatory
•     Click Add Authorised Signatory.
•     Enter details of the new director/authorised person (PAN, Aadhaar, contact details).
•     Upload supporting documents if required (Board Resolution/Power of Attorney authorising the person).
•     Ensure the PAN is linked with Aadhaar and is registered on the portal.

5.     Approval & Verification
•     The new signatory must accept the authorisation request in their own e‑Filing account.
•     Once accepted, the company’s profile will reflect the updated signatory.
