Even I don't think that any partucular qualification has been specified for being a Service Tax Consultant. More important part is that one must have in depth knowledge of the subject, should have regular updates about latest changes such as Notifications, Circulars, Instructions, etc. in this area.
As provisions of Service Tax are contained in various Acts & Rules, you must also know how to properly interpret law & terms used in law, as they may have a different meaning that what is for a layman.
Ofcourse, if you are going to be employed in an organisation as Service Tax Consultant, they may desire some minimum qualification.
In general professional like Cost & Works Accountants, Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, Law Advocates and people with working experience in this field are considered better consultalts.
