What is ibps exams all about?

Hi members., can anyone tell me, what this IBPS is all about..

Today, i was going through one of the advertisements of bank job.., which mentioned that everyone applying for the job must have this IBPS certificate or some score in that exam...

So, can anyone tell me, what it is all about? And being CA, from where i should persue it or give the exams?
If there is any direct link for these Qs, do provide me that.. As i have googled it, but didnt find any proper solution..
