I wanted to know that in a restaurant bill is it correct to charge Vat on sub total plus service charge and on service tax also.Is it approved to charge Vat on service tax also.

VAT applicable to trasfer of property therefore onservice charges charged extar there may not be any VAT.
ST applicable on basic value + service charge is the restaurant is having A/C only. non a/c no ST. Take aways there is no ST.
NO ST on VAT (since both are simultaneous)
