Unclaimed tds brought forward

I have paid TDS on interest from my FD, for assessment years 2014-2015, 2016-2017,2017-2018,2018-2019.

I was not in the taxable bracket for these assessment years, so I didn't file ITR in these AY.

I want to claim the "unclaimed TDS" for these years. Can I do so in the current assessment year?

No. Only TDS of FY 2018-19 can be claimed by filing return for AY 2019-20.

One more option is there, for any FD matured in FY 2018-19, if you offer total maturity interest for assessment in previous year 2018-19, you can claim the TDS deducted over the interest of earlier years in the same PY.

Total interest income if you show in FY 18-19 then this amount and TDS as per 26AS and form 16A will not match and TDS claim will be considered as per 26AS.

Alternatively you may submit online request for condonation of delay in return filing of past years and after approval can file return and claim TDS of earlier years.
