DGFT licence port mismatch with Postal (PAD) import - anyone faced this?

I have a valid DGFT restricted import licence with port INBLR4 (Bangalore Airport). My parcel came via international post, so Customs routed it to PAD Bengaluru (INBLR5) which is a non-EDI postal port and not selectable in the DGFT licence portal. Customs says the licence doesn’t cover INBLR5 and has issued an SCN. I couldn’t choose the postal port and DGFT doesn’t allow changing or adding it after licence issue. Has anyone had a similar problem? How was it resolved? Was it fine/penalty or confiscation?

Yes—this issue is well-known and resolvable without confiscation, provided you act correctly.
In genuine cases, Customs usually regularises the import (often with a nominal fine) rather than confiscating goods.

Thanks for sharing. When you say "act correctly" what exactly should be done at the SCN stage in such cases? In your experience, is it mainly about explaining the postal port limitation and accepting regularisation with a fine?
