My Clinet was one of the Partner in a Firm, he applied UDYAM for the firm with his aadhar as Managing Partner Previously. Now My Client Started New Business as propreitor and now he want to apply a UDYAM for the Propreitor Firm.

But While applying it showed that aadhar no was linked to another business UDYAM. We have cancelled the Old MSME and now we are not able to apply New MSME with his aadhar.

Hi NV siva Ram Prasad,

This is a common issue many face when transitioning from a Partnership Firm to a Proprietorship while using the same Aadhaar number for Udyam Registration.

🔄 Here’s what you need to know:

  • Aadhaar Number is unique and can be linked to only one active Udyam Registration at a time under the proprietorship category.

  • Since your client used his Aadhaar as the Managing Partner earlier, it got linked to that partnership's Udyam registration.

  • Even though you’ve cancelled the old MSME registration, the system might still reflect the old Aadhaar linkage, causing a block for new registration.

✅ What You Can Do:

  1. Wait for System Update: Sometimes, it takes a few days for the cancellation to reflect in the Udyam system. Try applying again after 5–7 working days.

  2. Raise a Grievance/Support Request:

    • Visit the official Udyam portal: https://udyamregistration.gov.in

    • Go to the “Contact Us” or “Raise a Grievance” section and submit the details including:

      • Old Udyam registration number (cancelled one)

      • Aadhaar number

      • Request to delink Aadhaar for new proprietorship registration

  3. Alternate Easy Way:
You can also apply through a simpler platform that assists with such Aadhaar-related MSME registration issues. Visit:

Common Issue with UDYAM Registration: Aadhaar Linkage

A common problem faced during UDYAM Registration is when the Aadhaar number is already linked to another UDYAM/MSME registration. This usually happens if the older registration was never properly cancelled or updated in the portal. As a result, the system blocks new registration attempts.

If you are stuck in this situation, here’s what you need to know and how to resolve it.

✅ Steps to Resolve the Aadhaar Linkage Issue

  1. Update Cancellation Status

    • Make sure any previous MSME/UDYAM registration tied to your Aadhaar is formally cancelled and updated on the UDYAM portal.

  2. Contact UDYAM Support

    • Reach out to the official UDYAM helpdesk or MSME ministry and explain that your Aadhaar is linked with an old registration.

  3. Submit Required Documentation

    • Provide supporting documents like:

      • Cancellation certificate of the old registration

      • Proof of business closure (if applicable)

      • Any official letters confirming termination of the earlier MSME/UDYAM certificate

🔑 Possible Solutions

  • Manual Intervention
The UDYAM support team may need to manually remove or update your Aadhaar linkage in their system.

  • Temporary Aadhaar De-Linkage
Sometimes, support can temporarily de-link your Aadhaar, allowing you to register a new business under UDYAM.

📌 Recommendations

  • Follow Up Regularly
Keep following up with UDYAM support until the issue is resolved—it may take multiple attempts.

  • Consult a Professional
If the process feels overwhelming, get help from a Chartered Accountant (CA) or a professional experienced with UDYAM registrations.
