Two words of encouragement - No jobs for fresh CA, CS

CA 5440 views 20 replies

Dear Professionals,

Couple of days back, in the CCI forum I have come across a thread regarding no jobs for Chartered Accountant professional and fresher’s. I think it is a very sad and disturbing situation.frown

But let me tell you the truth -- not only Chartered Accountants but experienced and fresh Company Secretaries also are struggling due to current economic slowdown.no

But as per my understanding this situation is very much a temporary one. In the past also we as a professionals had faced such kind of situations and come out well. Hence dear Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary friends no need to worry about slow down of Economy as far as your career is concerned. It is always bright and will remain bright. So don’t lose hope and keep working on your skills and knowledge.

Further amendments like Companies Bill, 2011, have proved that the position of Chartered Accountants and Company Secretaries is not less than anyone. Even our Government has also recognized and accepted this fact and enriches Companies Bill, 2011 with favourable provisions. I know it is just a bill and bound to face comments of opposition in the parliament (actually facing now). But one thing is sure that Govt. is serious regarding the importance of Chartered Accountants and Company Secretaries and draft Companies Bill, 2011 is a proof to that.

Role of ICSI and ICAI

I think it is high time for our institutes to take note of this terrible situation and should take major steps to improve their placement system. Regulation of passing percentage may be another method to control the excess flow of Chartered Accountants and Company Secretaries in the market.

Steps to be taken by Professionals

Friends I would suggest you to don’t lose hope and face this situation courageously. Keep working on your vision and knowledge. Never waste your time on unproductive activities. Keep yourself updated with latest amendments and most importantly keep trying for the job.enlightened

I know starting your own practice is not the permanent solution of this problem due to the various factors like arrangement of initial capital, lack of clients, office infrastructure and lots of other requirement. But if your final vision is to start practice then it is right time to go ahead towards your dream. It will take 2 to 3 years to be reckoned as a good practicing professional in the professional field.smiley

I hope the above write will help you to think positively and give you desired strength to face the current difficult situation.cheeky

Thanks

RG

Dear Richank, it is true that freshers are having problem in getting job but it is due the lack of knowledge, The new generation is concerned only get the degree and not the knowledge. Even when I took interview of some fresh cs I was just shocked to see the level of knowledge. The Institute is also not concerned with the passing percentage, demand and supply mismatch. One who has knowledge in depth is getting a handsome salary with good working enviornment even now a days also. Others views are also welcome

Agree with your views sir…even I have also faced the same situation 2-3 times…

In this regard you may pl refer my article below:

Somewhere students are much more interested in dual qualification these days…

Its a big relief to hear from you sirs that this struggle for job is just temporary. I hope it soon fades away and the freshers get the reward they deserve for their qualification.

Once i heard from one of my coaching teacher that, there will never be shortage of job for "Right" finance professionals. You Have to become "Right One"..Ya its true that market is down, but still persons are getting jobs..As RG already explained and given his valuable comment,i just want to add that "To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence". Always desire to learn something useful. Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later. Constant job search is needed by you,try to ask your relatives, seniors, friends or elders to arrange one job interview in initial stage... Asking help in Job search is always increase your chance to get selected.

True Mr. Garg that today fresh CA n CS are not getting job, but at the same time i feel that there are many new fresh CA 's who are not willing to be flexible regarding some issues like the place of work (city) package etc.. they should be flexible at least to get start off... . . i urge all the fresh CA and CS to start off with any thing u get coz it will increase ur experience n these profession is all about experience....

" Without inspiration the best powers of the mind remain dormant. There is a fuel in us which needs to be ignited with sparks. "

Qualifications like CA, CS etc. will not be commanded by market for long. History shows that economic slowdown has never been a permanent phenomenon. Your time will soon come dear friends. We cannot take your place but rest assured our best wishes will follow you through thick and thin. And as the quote says above, we all need it.

The only thing I'll suggest to all those who are going through a temporary rough patch is that, please make no stone unturned in your endeavour to make yourself better. Don't let complacence block the illumination of erudition. The same is true for depression.

The new Companies Bill, whatever opposition may it face, won't be altered to a degree that will jeopardise the much-deserved prospects of you professionals. At the moment it's a silver lining in the cloud. Soon it will be light itself.

Best of luck. Looking forward to replying to a post with a subject which is exact opposite to this one,...very soon.

Sorry, dear Richank for exceeding the word-limit while expressing my feelings. smiley

You just hit a bulls-eye Sir !

Have seen few cases like this during my articleship.

1) Sir's friend's son is a CA and managed to get a job in Mumbai but does not even know how to fill ITR 1.

2) Our clients son is a CA but struggling to get a job because he was a dummy article. Hardly have any practical experience and does not want to work for less than 50K.

3) One student came to our office after completing the finals and does not know how to enter purchase voucher in tally.

Genuine students struggle hard to manage time between office and studies. Many take dummy, to devote more time to studies for getting good marks and result. But remember when you go for the interview, the person sitting opposite to you is not a fool.

Degree, Ranks, High marks will help you giving the initial push. But after that, your progress will depend on the level of your knowledge and what you can do with your knowledge. Many people have knowledge but they struggle to apply it in practical scenario.

Almost every work is now being done on computers and internet. So students must have sharp computer skills. After appointing you, the company is not concernd with your rank/marks. They want their job done correctly, for which your are being paid.

I am not an expert. Just a student like many others and wrote what i have seen and felt so far.
