we have made payment to transporter 12000 , neither deducted tds nor collecting PAN, is this correct? we have followed rule Rs 30000 single payment or aggregate Rs 75000. plz clarify

First i would like to clarify you TDS not deducted on payment of any transporter bill if they provide their PAN no. on transporter Bill. If PAN no is not avbl there then TDS will be deducted @ 20%.
In your cases u must obtain the PAN no. of Transporter to avoid TDS.

i agree with your words i read the act also i have doubt whether 30000 limit is applicable to transporter also??
yes, sandeep is correct.If PAN is provided no TDS need to be deducted.However,if PAN is not provided TDS need to be deducted @ 20% irrespective of the limits specified under 194c

In case of Transporter If Pan is Available No TDS irrespective of that 30000
If Pan is not available you have to deduct 20 %
irrespecitve of that 30000

As above case TDS is not applicable on transportation which are covered under GOODS Act.
