Tds on subsequent payment

508 views 2 replies

My company has deducted TDS on some payments which were done in the month of April even though the amount did not cross the limit under Sec 194 J, as a company policy. After a policy change, they have stopped deducting TDS until the payments crossed limit.

My question is, is there any provision under Income Tax Act, under which TDS deducted against one payment has to be continued against subsequent payment even though the payments don't cross limits? Or can I stop deducting TDS until the limit crosses?

Yes, you may stop deducting TDS if the payment is not going to cross the limit within this FY.
