Hi , I think  you and your wife is earning because of the qualities being possessed that is other one is not earning due or substantial interest of other , because if that is the case then clubbing provision under section 64 will be applicable . If that is not the case then employer will deduct tax at the average which will be calculated as per the provision of section 192(1A) and you will get the deduction for the same u/s 10(10)(c).And  in my opinion income will be distributed on the basis of salary being drawn as there is no provision for the same in tax act .
