Hi I have a query regarding the TDS deduction on rent, myself and my wife own a joint property one of the pharma companies is interested in renting our property but the problem they want to bifurcate the rent into two halves as they want us to provide them with the PLUG & PLAY 1. Rs. 150000 this is the actual rent 2. 150000 is the charges for furnitures & fixtures so they want to make both these payments separately so my query is whether TDS is deducted on the payment for furnitures & fixtures and is it any good for us to receive the rent in two payments.

Even though this is property is jointly owned the total rent is well above the Rs. 1000000 for a given individual so what about the service tax as the rent is divided into two payments does the payment for the furnitures & fixtures be exempted from service tax.
