we've received a notice against TDS return filed for the quarter Jul'13 to Sep'13.

We had e-filed on 15th Oct, while we submitted the signed hard copy of 27A only on Nov 5th.

We have received a notice for Late filing, saying we've filed only on Nov 5th. Is this right? Do we have to pay the interest of 200 per day for the 21 days as shown in the notice? Or are we right in e-filing by 15th Oct.

date of filing will be the date of tds statement acknowledgement.,if it is dated on 15th oct -there is no late filing..else you have to pay late filing fee rs-200 per day..

The ackowledgement is the one that is generated as soon as we e-file, right?
That says 15th Oct, but the Notice says Filed on 5th Nov. I guess the signed print of the 27A /acknowledgement reached them on 5th Nov.

How do u suggest we proceed here?

I think, Notice is correctly provided since 27A were submitted on 5th Nov, which is the date when return is deemed to be filled, as acknowledgement were issued on that day itself..

Generally , Tin Centers donot accept your e-return without Form 27A . But in your case it seems that they have considered the same , Date of filling shall be the date on which receipt is generated. Further , your e return is incomplete without form 27A thereby you should pay the amount immediately otherwise more fine can be levied. This days TDS CPC has become very strict regarding all this things.
