TDS in Deceased PAN after last return

My father expired in fy 2021-22. His last ITR was filed for AY-2022-23. The process of closing of bank accounts took some time and bank has deducted TDS on interest on his FDs in Fy 2022-23. Since his last return has been filed. How can I claim TDS deducted in his PAN and showing in his 26AS, AIS and TIS in my ITR as legal heir.

  1. Can I file return in his PAN again?
  2. I am going to add income from inherited investments in my ITR for fy 2022-23. Can I claim TDS deducted in his PAN in my ITR?  Will it be allowed or disallowed during assessment?

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your father. As a legal heir, you may need to follow specific procedures to handle his tax-related matters and claim any TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) deducted on his income.

It is crucial to consult with a qualified tax professional to ensure that you correctly file the return as a legal heir and take advantage of any tax benefits or exemptions available for inherited assets. Tax laws can be complex, and professional advice will help you navigate the process smoothly and maximize any tax benefits available to you.
