One of our client is government School teacher. They deduct tax at source on the salary but not provide tds certificate. When we demand for the tds certificate issued from traces they not reply properly. Can I take any legal action against them for not providing me tds certificate, as its deductors duty to issue tds certificate as per income tax rules. If action can be taken against them, whom to approach?

Your client may check 26AS to find out whether the school is depositing the TDS and filing returns or not. The client may speak with a senior/principal regarding delay in issuing TDS certificate. He may write a lettter and place it on record.
