Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies whether Tax Collected at Source (TCS) applies to advance payments for a jointly purchased residential property. While TCS is not directly applicable to the buyer, the conversation highlights that Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) under Section 194IA is indeed relevant for the buyer if the property value exceeds 50 lakhs and the seller is a resident Indian.

Yes, TDS at 1% u/s. 194IA is applcable, if seller is Resident Indian.

Sorry, the question is about TCS and not TDS. Is it a typographical error?

TCS is not applicable on buyer. TDS u/s. 194IA is applicable on buyer of any property having value more than 50 lakhs.
