Taxes if someone else's salary is credited in my account

Tax queries 990 views 1 replies

I am filing taxes for the assessment year 2016 - 17. One of my friends (she is a freelance artist) used my savings bank account to get her salaries credited. Since the PAN card and bank accounts are linked, it shows that I have to pay tax for her salary as well. Is there a way where I can get this reversed. I don't want to pay taxes for an amount that I haven't used.

P.S: The friend who is actually supposed to pay this amount refuses to give me the money. Please help!

Why did you let her use your bank account in this manner? Once the salary is credited to your account do not let her withdraw full amount. Deduct the tax component and pay only the remaining balance.
