Taxability of Shares for consideration other than for cash

Tax queries 8186 views 16 replies

Hi,

My question is pertaining to capital gains on transfer of shares receievd for consideration other than cash.

What would be the cost of acquisition when the shareholder sells the shares? Section 55(2A) does not talk about shares received for consideration other than cash..... Is there any other particular section we have to refer?

Would be greatful to hear your views and references to case laws if any.

Thanks

Sowmiya Nachi
