hey freinds,

Whether tds is deducted on service tax portion also?..say i hav received service of Rs.20000+stax 2000=22000..then whether while making payment to service providr,i'm reqiured to deduct tds on 20000 or 22000?say tds is reqiured to be deducted

Yes, tax needs to be deducted on the amount credited which includes Service Tax as well.

However, for deduction of tax on rentals, service tax will not be includible.

Well I think so TDS Shall be deducted from rs.22,000/-

in case of 194I tax to be deducted on the amount before service tax i.e. . But, in case of 194J tax to be deducted after service tax.

Except on rent, service tax will be includible for the TDS purpose. TDS to be made on rent excluding service tax amount as per circular no. 4/2008.

ya T.D.S is deducted on service tax portion also except in case of Sec.194I i.e rent.

Only in case of 194j , TDS is to be deducted on the total amount including service tax. In rest of the cases, TDS is not deducted on service tax amt.

A gov't department has procurred chemicals worth more than Rs. 20000/- from any registered supplier, now i want to know whether tds is to be deducted from the supplier's bill/invoice and issue form-D certificate by the govt dept.
