Tax refund on pf withdrawal

TDS 214 views 1 replies

Hi All,

I was employed for 4.5 years in Company A. Prior to that, I was employed in Company B for 1 year. I transferred the PF from Company B to Company A.

I quit after I had a baby. I withdrew my PF, as I am not planning to take up employment again.

Company A deducted 10% TDS on the PF amount.

I want to know if I can claim refund of this TDS.

If yes, then in which field should I show the PF withdrawn amount in the e-filing form?

Thank you.

Regards

Deepa

Hi deepa

As per income tax pf withdrawal after continuous service of 5 years is exempt.

You need to enter entire of amount in exempt income mention as section 10(12) and claim refund of TDs.
