I am a govt employee. I have got possession of a flat in kolkata in Feb 2011 for which i am paying EMI wef sep 2008. The house is currently not not occupied and lying idle.How can i claim tax refund on the interest amont paid on EMI during the above said period and also how can i get tax rebate on house loan availed hereon.

kkk then Mr. Biswas u can take Deduction of House Loan Interest u/s 24(b) of Income Tax Act,1961.....nd according provision of Sec.23(2) u can show ur this house as Not Occupied Property nd u r servicing out side of that city coz of ur Employment so u can take such deduction & get rebate.
And u can also get Deduction of House Loan Repayment u/s 80C.
