640 views 1 replies

Hello Everyone,

This would be my first post in the forum. Kindly forgive me incase i have not posted in the right category/ sub-category.

I am planning to enter a joint venture agreement with a builder (Construction of building on my land, wherin construction cost would be beared by builder) on sharing basis. Suppose in, if the builder agrees to pay me a refundable security deposit. I wanted to know if refundable security deposit be liable to tax? or Would it be considered as Capital Gain?

Hi Ganesh,

Refundable security deposit is not normally taxable but i would advise you to a certified opinion from CA giving the full facts of your case.
