Tax on NPS Contribution

My employer is not making NPS contributions and there is no NPS at all in our office. I made personal contributions to NPS on my own for tax saving purposes and my 80C exceeds 1.5 Lakhs due to other investments. Can my personal NPS contributions be included into the section 80CCD (1b)?  Please note that the contributions under Section 80CCD(1) will be zero.

Quick Summary
This discussion explores whether personal NPS contributions can be claimed under Section 80CCD(1b) for tax saving purposes, especially when the Section 80C limit of 1.5 Lakhs has already been exceeded. The user is seeking clarification on claiming an additional deduction of up to 50,000 under 80CCD(1b) for their own NPS investments, even though their employer does not offer NPS.

80CCD(1b)...can be claimed...50000/-

Thanks Mahesh for your prompt reply.
