WHen we make interstate sales
for e.g. X of Punjab sells to Y of Haryana.
X registered in Punjab.
Y registered in Haryana.
then will X issue a tax Invoice or retail invoice.

- When goods are sold with the purpose of “resale” – tax invoice is issued, where as when the goods are sold to the final consumer retail invoice is issued.
- Tax invoice is capable of availing input tax credit (credit on inputs, i.e. tax already paid at the time of purchase) as opposed to retail invoice which is not capable of availing input tax credit.
- In case of goods sold to unregistered dealers within the state Retail Invoice is issued not the tax invoice.
- Tax invoice contains a TIN number, but Retail invoice don’t.
So that you have to issue "Tax Inovoice".
Should be retail invoice in my opinion. Concept being, purchaser cannot claim the benefit of input tax on a retail invoice. Even a sale to unregistered dealer is issued a retail invoice
