Tax deductions for medical expenses for brother

Tax queries 621 views 1 replies

Hello,

According to known facts, one can claim tax deductions only for self, spouse, parents and children. How about a brother who is completely dependent on a tax-payer due to a serious disorder?

Recently I came to know that family pension can be extended to a physically/mentally disabled son/daughter after pensioner and his/her spouse expires. So I wonder if there is such provision under tax reliefs and medical insurance cover too?

All pointers are welcome
