Tax consultant

hello members,

i am interested in becoming a tax consultant after becoming a ca. For this purpose,i will try to do articleship in a tax firm & read tax laws.

My doubts are:

1) which field has a better scope - IDT or DT?

2) Is knowledge of international taxation also required or knowledge of local taxes will suffice?

3) what else can i do to enhance my knowledge?

My personal opinion is that there is more growth in IDT field...

Dear Neeti,

There is scope in both DT and IDT..it depends on what field interests you.

apart from knowing just the Income Tax Act, a consultant also needs to be well versed with the other laws such as Company Law, FEMA, SEBI, Partnership act etc.

you can start reading professional journals such as The Chartered Accountant, BCAJ etc

since a transaction, whether feasible or not, has to be looked at from all the angles.

thanks ankit, what can i do for learning more about labor laws?  is cs a good option for acheieving my objective?

You are welcome neeti Yes cs may.b a good option especially if you want to become a consultant. You can also consider doing LLB..thats also a good course

you read my mind ankit.law is 1 of my fav subjects,(infact i scored 68 in ipcc law).but for llb course, attendance in college is a must. & distance education llb has little value.

As far as this goes Neeti, I hav sent you a pvt msg.. Pls check
