When you have House Rent Allowance (H.R.A)only you can claim for exemption. In the above the case it seems that you don’t have any H.R.A, so whatever the amount and wherever you pay as rent, will not be entitled to exemption..

Hi Sivaprasad,

According to me In Section 10(13A) word mentioned is house occupied by the assessee and not his/her family........so u need to provide Rent receipts of Nalgonda...

I am recieving HRA of RS 36000/- which one to deduct,I am payying rent at nalgonda 36000/-

at hyderabad 84000/-

you can deduct only nalgonda's rent..

In the case calculation under Section 10(13A) willbe done

But let me tell u that in any case ur HRA exemption cannt exceed Rs. 36000 pm

Hello Mr.Sivaprasad,

The HRA exemption will be allowed on the rent pait at your Nalagonda residence

Conditions are :

1.40% for Non-Metros & 50% for Metro Cities of Your Salary [ Basic + D.A. ]

2. Actual House Rent Paid

3. Actual Rent paid - 10% of Your Salary [ Basic + D.A ]

Least amount of the above will be considered for Exemption while filing your Return - Check the attachment for calculating your payable Tax
