i dont have any problem with self study.
but teachers like mr parveen sharma , vinod gupta...teaches the course in a very practical manner. their teachings consolidate our concepts.
in self study wat happens we become very theoritical. we do not really have an idea how things are done are practically. we try to mug up things rather than understand the concepts.
i wud like to quote an example.
eg1. assessment procedure in income tax. if u take tuitions then the teacher puts out the practical aspects of the whole procedure co-relating all provisions starting frm sec139 to 264.but a student doing self study will try to mug up things and may not gain proper understanding. a good teacher always explains the crux of the provision, why the provison came into being and the significane of the section. bul a self study person will only mug up the provisions and may not understand the proper applicabilty.
some of u may argue that we shud self study at home and try to implement our knowledge in articleship. that is fair enough...but few things are beyond the scope of our training programme. like we will never be allowed by our ca to caontest an appeal. like wise there are many other things where we are not able to get proper exposure.
self study will always fetch good marks. but tuitions i feel help build concepts. becoz these teachers are far more experienced than us. there may be many students who may be getting more than 70 in idt on basis of self study...but wud not have seen even an er1 form.
but there's a major shortcoming in tuitions. i feel if u r not getting classess from the best teacher n ur city do not join a teacher who is second best. there is a reason why one teacher is the best in a city and why others arent.
