Stamp duty on cash receipts to be increased from Re.1 to 10!

Dear friends,

Ministry of Finance has proposed several amendments to Indian Stamp Act which are available for public comments at the following link:

As per proposed Article 54 stamp duty on cash receipts is proposed to be increased from Re.1 to Rs.10 !!  However, limit of exemption from duty is also to be increased from Rs.500 as at present to Rs.5,000.
