दुख का कारण

एक व्यापारी को नींद न आने की बीमारी थी। उसका नौकर मालिक की बीमारी से दुखी रहता था। एक दिन व्यापारी अपने नौकर को सारी संपत्ति देकर चल बसा। सम्पत्ति का मालिक बनने के बाद नौकर रात को सोने की कोशिश कर रहा था, किन्तु अब उसे नींद नहीं आ रही थी। एक रात जब वह सोने की कोशिश कर रहा था, उसने कुछ आहट सुनी। देखा, एक चोर घर का सारा सामान समेट कर उसे बांधने की कोशिश कर रहा था, परन्तु चादर छोटी होने के कारण गठरी बंध नहीं रही थी।

नौकर ने अपनी ओढ़ी हुई चादर चोर को दे दी और बोला, इसमें बांध लो। उसे जगा देखकर चोर सामान छोड़कर भागने लगा। किन्तु नौकर ने उसे रोककर हाथ जोड़कर कहा, भागो मत, इस सामान को ले जाओ ताकि मैं चैन से सो सकूँ। इसी ने मेरे मालिक की नींद उड़ा रखी थी और अब मेरी। उसकी बातें सुन चोर की भी आंखें खुल गईं।

The Reason For All Sorrows

A businessman was suffering from insomnia. He was unable to sleep at nights. His servant felt very sorry for him seeing him in such a condition. One day the business passed away giving away all his riches to his servant. After becoming the owner of the property, now the servant turned insomniac. One night when he was trying to sleep, he heard some noises. He saw that a thief was trying to rob his house but was unable to wind things up as the cloth in which he was trying to pack them was far too small.

Seeing this, the servant gave him his blanket in which he was sleeping. Seeing him awake, the thief got scared and tried to run away. The servant told him not to panic and begged him to take away those valuables so that he could sleep in peace. He said first his master was unable to sleep because of them and now he is facing the same problem so its better if the thief took away them.
