Short term capital gain or business income

175 views 2 replies

Sir,

I am small investor and invest in shares. I wants to know if I trade 5 or 6 times in one financial year, for short term capital gain. That is purchasing shares and selling them after 2 or 3 months or within year.( but not intraday)

and short term gain is less than say 50,000 rupees in one financial year.

will my gain be considered as business income or short term capital gain?

Other thing, how total turnover is calculated in share trades. Total sell or purchase value or addition of both.

Please advise me on this.

Thank you

Hello Malhar,

Since you are not regular trader its better to consider STCG under capital gain head subtracting brokerage, if any paid and pay tax @ 15%.

Turnover in FNO is addition of sale and purchase value and in normal trading its sale value only.

Thank you Ruchika
