I am in the outdoor advt industry . I came across similar thing . My client said that  they come under SEZ . therefore they said that i am not suppose to charge service tax for them and also gave me the letter obtained from MPEZ stating that they are exempted from Service Tax , Central excise duty , customs duty, sales tax and payment of income tax for 10 years . But i am not sure about the service tax notification number . Therefore the best thing is to get the SEZ certificate from the client and keep it with you .

Yes, the services rendered within Special Economic Zone taxable under service tax rule as per the Notification No. 09/2009 Dated: 03.03.2009 as amended. And with the Effect of the NOtification the SEZ can claim for the refund of the Service Tax paid.
