Service tax registration

Hi There

We are starting a new online shopping website, which will be providing goods at local level only.We will not be providing any goods from our end, however will pass on the online orders to manufacturers and they will then in return ship the goods to customers and therefore will be liable for service tax.

We are not sure,if our income will reach 9 lakhs per annum,so my question was,can we register for service tax unless our income is 9 lakhs per annum. Googled it and found that we cannot register for service tax unless our gross income exceeds 9 lakhs, however also read on forum on this website, that despite our annual income is less that 9 lakhs,we still can register for service tax to avail the 10 lakh exemption. Is it true?

Looking forward to hear from someone.

Thanks

You can apply for registration even is turnover is less than 10 lakhs. Once the turnover reaches to 10 lakh, start collecting the service tax from customers and pay to govt. Once you register with ST dept , you should file ST3 periodically even if turnover is less than ten lakh

Hi Ganesh

Thanks for the information.

The eligibility to apply for service tax is that income should be minimum 9 lakhs per annum. So can we apply for same even if our income is not 9 lakhs per annum to avail 10 lakhs exemption?

No, you can voluntarily register under service tax even if your turnover is less than 9 lakh

Hi to All,

We Are Service industry.sales of bulk sms to our customers,Company turn over is 60000 p.m , so we are Eligible for service tax ? or not?

Since aggregate value of taxable turnover is less than 10 lakh, you need not pay service tax. Similarly your value of taxable turnover is less than 9 lakh, hence registration under service tax is also not applicable.

Hi sir,

                Thanks For the Valuable information.
