Service tax on services provided to educational institutions

Please tell me whether service tax is chargeable or not if any construction public co provides any services like: lighting in institute or any other services to any educational institute. Please reply

Education institutions which are affiliated to any university or recognised by any government of state or central are exempted from service tax

Only specified Service provided by any person to an Eligible Educational Institution is entitlted for exemption. Specified Services includes Catering , Housekeeping, Cleaning, Admission related Services, Conducting of Exams, Transportation of Students , Staff and Faculty

Sir,

I have a small query. I have recently joined IIM. Tie-up with a local hospital is there which is providing regular medical service to the students and charging a monthly sum. The bill comes alongwith service tax. Please confirm if service tax is applicable on medical facility provided to educational institution.
