As a manfacuturere or service provider you can take the credit of the service tax paid on the courier charges subject to conditions laid down under cenvat credit rules. Please refer defination given for input service under rule 2 of cenvat credit rules(as amendend in Finance bill 2011)

Dear Sir,

I work in a manufacturing company. During the Excise Audit one query is found that

Service tax credit.

The issue was service tax credit taken from currier charges of Invoice issue for material despatch

Excise officer says that it is not a input service and it shoud be reviced

Kindly suggest me what shoud i do ?

I this you have taken the Service Tax Credit on the GTA outward. hence , department is asking you to reverse the same.

The query can not be understood only by reading the narration, as it also involves the Transaction , Invoice, etc..

My client do get ST Credit on Postage Expense incurred at Head Office/ Factory. Do they get ST Credit on Postage Expense incurred at Branch???
