What will be the pros and cons if I sell my equity shares on my demat account and buy agricultural land on my father's name with that money? It will be of great help to me if anyone could clarify please...

Both are different kinds of wealth creating investments.

It all depends upon your own choice, needs and appetite.

Main difference is shares are easily encashble as compared to agricultural land; at the same time land has almost nil risk factor, while earning revenue.

Thank you for your response Sir!
Could you through some light on the tax implications of such a transaction please?

If your shares are long term holding........ you may not have  to pay much tax over LTCG from it after grandfathering effect...........

While no tax liability over purchase of land except stamp duty & registration.

Of course, no tax exemption available over land purchased.
