Self Study for May'09

Final 1577 views 7 replies

I have attended classes for accounts, costing & Law.

I am studying MAFA from pattabhi sir's book , Direct Taxes from Manoharan Sir's book, Auditing from Vinod aggarwal sir's book & studying from icai module for MICS.

I am also going to study Indirect taxes on my own. I am really worried  as to which text book to read for IDT.

please suggest a good book which might help in my endeavour of self-study. I cannot attend any more classes as my attempt is in May 2009.

I am very much worried whether I can complete the syllabus in such a short time as i have not read idt before.

please provide me the approach to handle MAFA, AUDITING, DT, IDT,  & MICS effectively.

with regards

srividya

Dear Srividya,

For IDT Book of Sanjay Bangar is very useful & also referred by most of the student.

For MICS Go through Module, Compilation & RTP must do.

For DT manoharan is also good, solve the qn given in that.

Regards

Hitesh

Thanks a lot Hitesh for your tips.

Vaitheeswaran Sir's book will be good for Indirect taxes!

Hi..
First of all let me tell u that Preparation defines by the person himself, i.e u have to decide that how u r going to prepare for the exams.
But In general I can provide u some tips which may be heplful to u :

1) First of All Have faith in God since it is most important thing for any Student.....whatever is gone ..its gone, try to think about coming exam and start preparing right now (with deep belief in God and i am sure it will help u a lot.)

2)Be consistent in ur studies and give importance to all 4 subjects in GR II but in past attempts it has proved that u have to secure around 60 marks in two subjects and this is easily possible in MICS & IDT.
Only thing needed is hitting a bulls eye.

MICS- Examiner requires only one thing in MICS answer book i.e Institute module language. (thats it nothing else)
If he get this thing he will easily give more than 60 marks provided all answers are attemted.

Remember in each exam Try to attempt the entire paper then u will be able to clear the exam even if u don't know the answer try to write something tin that but don't leave it un attempted

In MICS module, at the end of every chapter u will find the self examination questions, Find the answers from chapter and write that question above its answer so that ur module content will be in form of Q & A format. Among the content of module,u will find various irrevelant points ....jst eliminate that part try to fit answer into that question.

In short, above was mine method of preparation in MICS and i was able to secured 64 marks in the paper. Remember there is no substitute for module, in first and second reading u will find it very difficult in preparing but at any cost be stick to that thing and try to prepare in Q & A format and then start preparing for MICS in joyfull manner.

INDIRECT TAX:

First and foremost thing in IDT paper Be sure that u attempt the entire 100 marks paper or around that, if u don't know anything about the question write anything relating to topic given tin question but plz plz attempt the answer

As far as Book is concerned, Sanjay Bhangar Book is best in IDT (no substitute for this)

Find out the trend of alloting marks to different chapters in exams (only refer last five tio six attempts Question papers) and give more importance to those chapters .(but don't leave any chapter).U must have atleast one reading of all chapters.

Direct Tax-

If u have sufficient time Refer VK Singhania or TN Manoharan in vice versa.

Difference is this Singhania text book is generally considered to be very professional and it also covers things which are least important from examination point of view and it means it is good for the indepth knowledge of subject .

Manoharan textbook is purely exam oriented and is a very student friendly textbook. it is a purely exam oriented and if u manage to complete the entire textbook with the good preparation , u can attempt around 90% of Direct Tax paper very easily. 10% paper is always uncertain in Direc Tax.

Most important for Direct Tax - Cover all the ammendments apllicable for the exam. Around 20% of marks are usually asked on ammendments.

At last, In every exam Try to attempt the entire 100 marks paper (with the proper allocation of time)and if u don't know anything abt a particular question jst write any stuff u know abt tht question being a CA.
make sure that u attempt the question.

All the best.

thanx ritesh sir for such a nice direction
