whether i should go for self study for DT (ca final)?

plz help me out.

i m very much confused as my friends are with different opinions and i dont exactly know which way to move?

I m giving you my opinion others may differ.

As per me if you r in a hard core taxation oriented firm,then u dont need coaching. But if u are in a audit oriented firm or a dummy candidate,then DONT miss the coaching.Becoz DT,as CA final paper,needs no intro as to the amount of twist ICAI can give n when u might be bugged u never know. For eg for nov 10 paper even VG sir said he had no idea abt wht ws the answer for upto 15 marks paper.

Its doesnt matter whether u go for self studyz or coaching, it all depends on u, if u read the provisions thoroughly giving weightage to each and every word while reading and understanding than self study would suffice.

In DT ,is it required to give reference of latest case laws or leaving them is ok???????I m also thinking of self study but afraid of these case laws............plz suggest...........

wud suggest to join classes to hv good clarity on provisions and do self study by reading books available in the market like Vinod Gupta....

I PERSONALLY FEEL THT IN CA FINAL COURSE U CN DO SELF STUDY FOR ALL SUBJECTS EXCEPT DIRECT TAX LAW.....AND EVEN IF U TAKE CLASSES FOR IDTL IT WILL BE GOOD COZ CLARITY ON CONCEPT IS VERY REQUIRED. THING....

Dear Friend,

Just do two things. :

1. Arrange the summary of VG Sir's Notes.Remember that only summary notes book is required and not the rest volumes.

2. Arrange the notes of Satish Mangal Sir.It comes in 3 books.

Go through all the 4 books in a logical and phased manner at least 3 times.All the books are great and very logically and cohesively assembled.

You have done your job.Do the best and leave the rest to God.

VG Sir's books are best if you want to study taxation in depth....

you can also refer the recent case laws and also try studying from the ICAI's module cos it helps a lot..

Idt is the most easiest and scoring subject in grp2 and definitely can go for self study...
