Good Morning Everyone..i am very thankfull for all ur support..of accepting a group disscusion..so i am starting today  the topic for group discussion..

this topic is suggested by our friend PULKIT GUPTA..

so topic is What is ur opinion on Selective study and Role of Scanners in the present examination scenario..?

In my view ..in the recent exam pattern somany of us shocked by seeing the questions in the exam..which were unexpected..and unimportant what we feel..so i feel that..rather going fo a selective study concentrating on all the subjects in all chapters help us in knowing the knowledge and helps in passing in the examination..

and comming to SCANNERS..i don't beleive in scanners because it was really waste of time..and ofcourse there are lot of mistakes too..rather depending upon scanner one should concentrate on the RTP's or Suggested answers which might help..

so what do u say guys..????

Dump the scanners, practice from RTP's and suggested answers, and never look for important topics, cover the whole syllabus and don't come out of the exam hall saying, damn Institute asked irrelevant and unimportant questions.

If anything was irrelevant or unimportant then it would not have found place in CA syllabus. Therefore prepapre each and every topic to lessen the surprise element in exam hall.

 Totally Agree...

But it is not possible to go through each and every topic!!

why not...gagan jee..if we all plan effectively..we can cover each and every topic..most of us feel tired when came to home  after articles work ..and sit in front of tv or listen music or go for internet..rather doing all this..why can't we take book to read..ofcourse it is not a nice idea..do u think we can't spend two hours time in total 24hrs time for studyng..i don't think it is not a bad idea..

Completely agree with Vasiullah but at the same time cannot denny the words of Sasanka that instead of refering other authers books and scanner, we must 1st refer institute material, RTP's & Practice Manuals because these are the books provided ny ICAI and they are bound to give all questions in exam within in the area covered in these books.

it was purely luck ...to make students surprise ...so tht they got confuse. n every1 wil mst agree wid d fact  tht  papers were easy even though unexpected .

so cant ignore d scanner too ...bcz it helps in checking performance.

bt yes ...its nt so easy to cover all aspect s

bt if v  make notes ..it make an easy covering .

n its nt easy to cover everything ...so if u r doing self study ..then u never need to stop ur studies ..b active to b in rythem.

Completely agree!

Agree with Vasiullah

I feel it makes no difference whether a student prepares from study material or scanner or some other book.

I feel that honesty in study is important.

Anyway you study ,if you were honest you'll get the results.

As far as selective study is concerned it's a big gamble. Many times luck may favour you but if anytime things go wrong...you'll end up in a mess!

If you study from scanner hoping that same type of questions will come in exams or you stuff the study material in your head hoping that questions will be from study materials like in Nov 2010,then that is not a honest way to study.

Morale : Keep it Simple :)

what quality of service will they given who have done selective study?

I did't say that one should't consult study material, In fact first of all one should study from the study material followed by lots of practice from a standard book. There is no benefit of learning the questions, one should try to learn the concepts whether you are studying from study material, suggested answers, scanners or a standard book.

Totally Agree, If we are dedicated enough towards our studies then its not a tough task to utilise whatever time we get in studies.

I think the main problem is that updated books are not with students .I mean to say ,if IPCC student cleared today and registered for final exams in 2013 , then study material like DT,IDT will be useless before the exams in 2013.So he has to opt for other updated books before exams.............

In current Examination, ICAI really tested students to know whether they are studying only to pass the exam or want to learn something new. And students who concentrated on Trend of ICAI rather than try to study all topics of the subject got trapped............

It is true that there are some important topics in Costing and asked by institiue repeatedly. Afterall we have received the full material, actually we are responsible for not studying(including me)..........

and all students want repeated questions in exam. I think Quality of study is going down....

This is my personnel opinion......
