Seeking Guidance on Updating GST Portal for Director and Business Address Changes

1101 views 2 replies

Hello Members,

I am seeking your advice regarding updates to the GST portal.

Last year, we followed the MCA procedure to add a new director and remove the existing one. However, I wasn’t aware that these changes also needed to be reflected in the GST portal. I’m now in the process of updating the director details under the Core Fields section, as well as adding an additional place of business.

My question is: what should be the appropriate date of amendment on the GST portal? Should I use the current date, or should it reflect the actual date when the director change and the new business location took effect?

I would greatly appreciate your guidance. Thank you in advance!

Quick Summary
This discussion seeks advice on updating director details and business addresses on the GST portal after changes were made via MCA. The core question is whether to use the current date or the actual date of the change for the amendment. The consensus recommends using the actual date of change to ensure accuracy and compliance with GST regulations, avoiding potential retrospective issues. Maintaining supporting documentation like board resolutions and MCA filings is also advised.

When updating director details and adding a new place of business on the GST portal, the date of amendment is crucial. Here's what you can consider: Date of Amendment -

*Actual Date of Change*: It's recommended to use the actual date when the director change and the new business location took effect, rather than the current date. This ensures accuracy and compliance with GST regulations.

- *Retrospective Effect*: Using the actual date of change will help avoid any potential issues with retrospective effect, which might lead to penalties or interest. Key Considerations

- *Documentation*: Maintain proper documentation, including board resolutions, MCA filings, and other relevant records, to support the changes made on the GST portal. -

*GST Portal Guidelines*: Check the GST portal guidelines or consult with a GST professional to ensure compliance with specific requirements. Best Approach -

*Update with Actual Date*: Update the director details and additional place of business with the actual date of change, ensuring accuracy and compliance. -

*Verify Portal Requirements*: Verify the GST portal requirements and guidelines to ensure a smooth update process.

By using the actual date of change, you'll ensure compliance and accuracy in your GST records .

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your insight, @ Rama Chary Rachakonda!
