I Would like to know can i take retention on kitchen equipment on which vat is charged 12.5%?

Dear Sir
my client has purchased kitchen equipment for their branch office in kandivali for business use. & vat is charged 12.5%. now i have to claim set-off on that purchase. so i would like to know can i take retention @ 3% ?
