Resident with income from a company based in qatar. am i liable to pay income tax in india

Tax queries 238 views 3 replies

I work in India for a Qatar based IT company. In most of the gulf countries there is no Tax in Salary. We are not yet registered in India as we are very small in number.  They have plans to register in India once they grow in number. There is no TAN or we dont get PF and no TDS in India. We get salarys in our Indian Bank Accounts in INR. Now my question are we liable for paying Income Tax in India.  Please clarify.

yes, you are liable to tax in India ( I work in India)

all assessees, whether resident or not, are chargeable to tax in respect of their income accrued, arise, received or deemed to accrue, arise or to be received in India

so, you income is taxable at a rate specified in the act

What is the rate specified? Can you please clarify? Also, my Qatar based company pays taxes there and in such case, it becomes double taxation.

for individual - who is less than 60 year old during the previous year

on total income. rate
upto rs 2,50,000. nill

more than 2,50,000
but less than 5,00,000. 5%

more than 5,00,000. 12,500 + 20% in.
but less than 10,00,000. excess of rs5,00,000

more than 10,00,000. 1,12,500 + @ 30% in
excess of rs 10,00,000

you can pay tax on your income from salary

no double taxation
