kindly give me suggestion on the service tax which are as follows----

There is a NRI client who received a notice as per sec 70 for nonsubmission of service tax return from april2008 to march2013.And from the letter we came to knew that he was already registered with service tax because there was service tax number wwas given.But that assesse has not aware of his registration and we have nothing information other than that letter.And also he was not in india from 2008 to 2013 and also he didnt need any service tax registration because he is a salaried person.

please give some solution so that i can solve this issue..

The client should have applied for service tax registration in ST-1. Kindly check with the Range office. What is the date of notice u/s 70. If it is dated after 01-03-2013, you may go for VCES, paying some nominal tax as 'tax dues' saving your client from interest, penalty and other consequences.

Yes it is after 31.3.13.. Thanks Can I apply for surrender the st reg through a letter and with passport copy.

Before surrendering ST-2, kindly update the returns and pay the tax dues. Then Login to ACES website and surrender your registration online. Take a print out and submit with the department enclosing the original ST-2.
