I am working in India for a US based MNC. I receive RSU and also enrolled for ESPP and I have neither sold RSU nor ESPP received. I have couple of queries regarding Schedule FA of ITR2.

1) Do I need to show RSU and ESPP in FA section?

2) In which section of Schedule FA of ITR-2 form for FY 2018-19 should the following information be reported.

  • A3 - Details of Foreign Equity and Debt Interest held(including any beneficial interest) in any entity
  • B - Details of Financial Interest in any Entity held(including any beneficial interset)
  • D - Details of any other Capital Asset held(including any beneficial interest)

3) Incase it is section D,

  • For RSU what will be value of column - "Total Investment(at cost) in rupees". For 100 units, I received only 70 units and remaining 30 were tax with holded. Do I need to show it as a) 100 * dollar price on vesting date * per share value on vested date  or b) 70 * dollar price on vesting date* per share value on vested date
  • For ESPP, - grant price was $x and FVM(fair value market) on purchase date was $1.5 x. What will be value of above column - "Total Investment(at cost) in rupees".  Will it be  a) Total shares * 1.5x * dollar price on purchase date  b) Total shares * x * dollar price on purchase date c) Total shares * (1.5x - x ) * dollar price on purchase date [only gain for these shares as per on purchase date - as this is the only value shown in perquisite column in my form 16]

Please help me in filling ITR form properly

Hi,

I also had same questions but only for ESPP. Finally, after thinking about it and looking at various online sources, i did the following (correctness of which will be known after I receive confirmation on my submission):

1) YES

2) For ESPP, I used Table D to declare.

3) For ESPP, I used FMV.  Reason -  For the discounted price, my organization had already paid tax assuming that the discounts are part of my salary and they are clearly mentioned in my Form 16 under Form 12BA (stock options...). Also, FMV is going to be used when we sell these shares/stocks later and calculate capital gains.

Hope this helps a bit.
