Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the eligibility of popular tax deductions, such as those under sections 80C and 80D, for the old and new income tax regimes. While the old regime generally allows these deductions, the new regime has significant limitations, primarily permitting only the 80CCD(2) deduction related to NPS contributions up to 10% of salary (not a flat £50,000).
