No, you can not join articleship without clearing Group-1 of IPCC.

Dear swati there is a provision to join for articleship before results.... after passing grp 1 only you have to mention  

@ Siddharth- But what will be the use of joining before results? That period won't be counted under articleship ultimately.

As per my opinion, 3 years of articleship is already more than enough to learn how to work. And Monith, what Kaushik has asked is whether he can join for  ARTICLESHIP before clearing 1st group of IPCC. So in that case, answer would be no only.

@ swati : i know that he cant join as a "article assistant" and that bfore clearin group 1 he cant join for articleship also.. that's why i said he can join for work but will hav to quit if he doesnt clear.:)

well legally you cant but if you can convince your principal and if he is ready to leave you once your term is over (by giving you dummy in your few months) then you can, Many of my friends have done this and this gives them longer study leave also. So if you can get such firms go ahead
